I recently traveled with some friends to England and Scotland. My favorite part of the trip was traveling around London. It is very easy to get around because the Underground goes all around the city. The station by our hotel was Paddington Station. That linked to all the other stations. They have great shopping, including the five story Dr. Martin store, which was my personal favorite. There is also a huge
store called Harrods that stretches over an entire block. There is also
a lot of entertainment, with people doing exiting stuff right on the
street. One day I saw a flame swallower.
From London, we went to Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. In between we stopped at Bath, York, and Stratford-Upon-Avon, where we visited Shakespeare's birthplace. We also visited the famous and prestigious Oxford University. We stayed at the University of Edinburgh Pollock Halls for a few nights, where we each got our own room. Scotland is famous for its shortbread. I bought plenty of that from the Old Woolen Mill stores. Shopping was easy because you can use English money in Scotland and Scottish money in England, so we didn't have to exchange it. There are many unusual and fun stores in Edinburgh. Another thing I enjoyed was visiting the lochs (lakes).
Although I liked many parts about my trip, I will remember the people the most. They were mostly all very nice and I made a lot of good friends. In London, people will stop and talk to you right on the street. It is very laid-back and comfortable. I would love to go back if I can and maybe even live there someday.
